To succeed in the marketplace, these two skills are non-negotiable.

You must learn to think on your feet, articulate your value in clear and compelling ways, and engage with people on the fly effectively.

Same is true with writing. Start with your own white papers. Create think pieces that are 3-6 pages and one-pagers that convey useful information in a short, easy-to-apply format. A blog is just as much for you as it is for your readers, teaching you to craft pithy points that people can put to use. Submit drafts for magazine articles to periodical until you get published. Begin your book.

When you approach mainstream publishers about your book they will be most interested in your platform – your contacts that will generate sales. Speaking is the most effective way to grow your platform. And so, we are full circle.

If you are serious about growing your business, you must become expert at both writing and speaking.
