How Many Goals are You Working On?

Franklin Covey did research among 1000s of teams and discovered the Law of Diminishing Returns in effect when it comes to the number of strategic objectives pursued. It’s a great find. Use it to move your business to another level.

If a team has 2-3 primary objectives, they are likely to achieve 2-3.
If they have 3-10, they are likely to achieve 1 or 2.
If they have 11+, they are likely to achieve none.

How’s that for brass tacks? So, how many strategic objectives do you have for your business?

As a marketing piece for their class on execution, they produced a really great video. It’s worth 17 minutes of your time because it lays out exactly what it takes to succeed in execution. This is a brilliant, straightforward system for selecting a short list of most important goals, and, more significantly, being in effective action and achieving those goals in the midst of the day-to-day “whirlwind”. I believe one of the greatest outcomes an executive coach can provide is guiding the client into the habit of timely follow through on stated intentions and promises.
